Stitch It Challenge and Blog Hop News!!

Hey everyone!

Just a couple things to share today. Over at Flying Unicorn I'm hosting a Stitching Challenge this month! Stitching has become one of my favorite things to do on my creations. I love to see stitching on a layout..it can add so much to your project. The challenge is so fun and we are getting some awesome entries and I would love for you to join me! For the challenge, you have to of course, do some stitching on your layout or altered project and you could win a fabulous prize from the Flying Unicorn store.

I made this lo for some inspiration using CI Provencial collection from the store.

I did some masking and stamping adding a Prima vine, Kaisercraft and Flying Unicorn flowers. I painted a Hinge from Tim Holtz Grungeboard with Glimmer Glaze

I stitched around the photo and added some goodies. My daughter made the stick pin.

I added little adhesive pearls to the lace and used a small crystal gem to 'hang' from the vine.

A Very Special Guest Designer- Gerry van Gent!!

I am THRILLED to announce our February Guest Designer at Flying Unicorn, Gerry van Gent!!

I personally have been a huge fan of Gerry's work for quite some time and was so excited when she accepted to be our guest! Gerry has such a creative talent for everything she touches. The details of her work are stunning and the things she can do with mists, inks and paper..wow.....she truly is an artist and one of the sweetest people I know. I can't say enough about her or her work and I can't wait to see what she creates with the new upcoming Feb kit! I'm sure every scrapper has seen her work, but if not I highly encourage you to check out her blog and gallery!!

Here is a little something about Gerry she wrote up for us:

My name is Gerry - a 38 years old Bulgarian woman who lives in The Netherlands. I`m a mom of two adorable kids and a wife of a very supportive hubby. I`m a SAHM and I have plenty of time to spend with my kids and of course I have plenty of time for my hobbies...scrapbooking and photography. I got involved in scrapbooking back in 2003 when my first child was born and I never stopped since then. I find inspiration in my kids, in every day life and of course in the products I work with.

My work is always detailed and dimensional. I love misting, masking, stamping, making my own embellishments and I love hand-stitching on my layouts.

I currently design for Webster`s Pages, The Scrap Cake, The Color Room, Imaginarium Designs, Once Upon A Sketch, Manor House Creations, Scrapdelight and I`m a teacher at Miss Art`s Papercrafting school.

Playing With Chipboard!!

Hey scrappers!I'm here to share a few fun creations using some chipboard from Fabsraps and Dusty Attic all from the Flying Unicorn Store.

I have a brand new baby great neice!! So of course, I had to scrap a couple of her pictures!! There is not a better subject to work with than a brand new baby!!

For this layout I used some Graphic 45 "Once Upon a Springtime" Collection. I chose a Dusty Attic Fairy and Fence to add to it.

I did some fussy cutting and used pop up dots to add the cut outs on the lo to give it a dimensional look. For the Fairy, I used paints left over from the Dec Kit and painted her body first, wings and hair. It's not the best..but it was fun to do!! I then covered her with some Rock Candy. When painting chipboard, be creative! Your chipboard doesn't have to be one color..mix, blend..distress..have fun with it!

On the fence I lightly brushed some white Crackle Paint with my fingers over it. I then used my heat gun to dry it and took some Aged Mahagony Distress ink on my blending tool and inked it a bit.

For this first layout I used a mix of FabScraps High Tean and Prima Moulin Rouge papers.

For the first chipboard piece, I chose a flourish from FabScraps and painted it with Peeled Paint Distress ink, let dry, and then used a script stamp to stamp over it..just for a little effect. I then covered it with a light coat of Rock Candy and sprinkled some Diamond Dust on top.

The next two pieces I chose were from Dusty Attic. I chose a DA border trim and candlealbra. I used Glimmer Glam on the candlealbra and distress stain on the border and added a little liquid pearls to top it off. The Glam lets you get a different effect than regular stains or inks. I paint a few coats of the Glam on and then 'pat' a generous amount of it on top of the dried layers.You can cover with Rock Candy or Glossy Accents if you wish also.

Ruby Rock It-Le Jardin & Mojo Monday

Hey scrappers!

This week at Flying Unicorn, we are putting a fabulous company from Australia in the spotlight! Ruby Rock It has some beautiful high quality scrapbooking goodies that are so fun to work with! I got to work with the gorgeous Le Jardin collection. You can find this collection as well as their Avalon and Beloved Wedding lines HERE in the Flying Unicorn Store. You also get 10% off all Ruby Rock It products until Jan 22!!

For my first layout I did, I chose a picture of my nephew and his new baby sister. He's giving her his 'first kiss' and it's such a precious moment to capture. First I cut out a circle from one sheet from the collection and punched around it, taking the cut out piece and using it for a 'frame' so to speak. Misted the outside of a doily with Cadillac Pink Glimmer Mist and added it before I continued on..

The rub ons in the collection are really nice to work with. I cut each word out of one phrase to get it around the arch of the circle like I wanted. I painted some Dusty Attic with Picket Fence Crackle paint and topped it with a beautiful Flying Unicorn flower which I added some Prima leaves on to. I also took a small piece of cardboard, ran it thru my crimper and painted it..then added my masking to it.

I used lots of Flying Unicorn flowers, along with some Prima and Kaisercraft as well. The sheer trim is from the Le Jardin collection, and the white 'bloomers' are Tim Holtz. The bridge is Shabby Chic Resin from Prima.

The word 'first' is Websters alpha stickers and I used the scrabble tiles, courtesy of Lisa Gregory, to add the word 'kiss'. You can find her Scrabble Tiles tutorial and her tutorial for using your punch around the circle on her blog.

I made a tag for Valentiines Day with some of the scraps I had..

I did do another LO using the Le Jardin collection, although I'm going to add more to it. After I photographed it..it just didn't look finished, so I took it back to the drawing board to see what else I could do with it. But here are some sneaks of that one.

I will share it when it's completed!!

Graphic 45 Highlight!

This week at Flying Unicorn we are highlighting one of our favorite companies Graphic 45!!

I think all scrappers know how wonderful Graphic 45 is to work with. The colors, images, quality is amazing and I love all their other products as well.

For my feature week I made a Cosmo Cricket mini using G45 Renaissance Faire Collection.

For the cover, I went with an idea I saw from Tara Orr. She too had made a mini and I love the way she used the beautiful ladies for the cover..so I followed her footsteps in that. Used Prima, Petaloo and Flying Unicorn Flowers. You can see more information HERE on this mini and other Graphic 45 projects that are being showcased this week at Flying Unicorn!

American Idol Hits Flying Unicorn!

Hey scrappers!

Over at Flying Unicorn, we are having such fun with all the new revamping and challenges going on! One of my favorites has to be Alda's American Idol Challenge! The rules are you pick an Artist from the chosen list..you have to scrap a lo using a song title from the artist you chose. I chose Christina Aguilara for my artist.

I picked her song "Beautiful" as my title for my project. I scrapped a picture of my stepdaughter who is turning into quite the beautiful young lady. I used Pion's Studio of Memories collection available at the Flying Unicorn Store. There aren't many places who sell Pion in the U.S but you can sure find it there along with other hard to find paper lines like ScrapCake and Riddersholm. The Prima pillar is also from the store. The punchwork around the circle was made using Martha Stewart Deco Fan punch and I used Lisa Gregory's tutorial.

This next lo is CT work for Flying Unicorn and inspiration for a challenge I'm hosting in the forum "MASKquerade". You have to use a mask on your project to be eligible for the prize..and it's a great prize so I hope you'll join us!!

I used Prima Romantique collection from the STORE and some goodies I got from my favorite local scrapbook store, The Scrap Trap. This is a picture of my son (the blonde cutie pie) with his grandma and two cousins..a long time ago.

I made the birdcage mask myself using Tim Holtz mask sheets and my Cricut. I spritzed the trim with Bell Bottoms Glimmer Mist and used mostly Prima flowers and rubons.

Flying Unicorn January Kit "Wishing and Hoping"

Happy New Year Everyone!!

I am super excited to show you the new January kit from Flying Unicorn "Wishing and Hoping"

This kit is packed with all the stuff you need to bring a little sunshine in your life during the Winter. Graphic 45 Tropical Travelogue collection, beautiful Prima butterflies, seashells, Bazzil flowers, fish netting..and so much more! The Off the Page Project are glass bottles and a plate with candles which really brought out a painting creative side and I had fun making them!

Here are some projects I did with the kit and some close ups.

I made my own mask using Tim Holtz Mask Sheets and my Cricut. Used some flowers from my stash and some cut outs from the G45 paper. The fish netting I LOVE!!! So much of it comes with the kit. I used it on 2 layouts and still have more to play with!

This next layout I tried to lift from my scrappy friend Shona's Snow Babe layout. Let's just say..I didn't do it quite right..lol. I really don't lift alot of others...as I never get it as pretty as theirs..but I do love getting inspired by great designers like her!

For the next one, I scrapped a picture of my dd I had before, but this one is for her album. There is that wonderful fishnet again..and shells!! Super fun kit and made me with for Summer! The fussy cutting you can do with this paper just makes it so much easier to put together the perfect layout.

For the OTP you will get a beautiful glass plate, with candles, 3 glass bottles..all unique, stencils, and the glass paints to go with it. Unfortunately my plate and one bottle broke..so I only got to play with 2 bottles. But, I did find a glass container that I will be working on using the paints. The possibility are endless!

For this first one, I swirled some of the blue and yellow and added some fishnet and pearls for a beachy look. The second one I used the stencil on. Tip: when using the stencil on the glass, if you pat it with the paint it won't run. Just take a generous amount of paint, and tap it within the space of the stencil. Do not 'paint' it as it will run. The great thing about this paint and glass is if you make a mistake, it wipes right off and you can start again!

Prima and Bo Bunny Layouts

Hey everyone!

Seems like forever since I've blogged! It's been a crazy busy time and I'm so glad it's slowing down. I have been working on a couple CT layouts for Flying Unicorn using some Prima and Bo Bunny I'd like to share with you. These are babies of two friends and they're just too cute not to scrap! I told them I'm going to have to make them each an album.

The first one is the Forever Fall Collection from Bo Bunny. I won this collection from the Flying Unicorn auction and got the hinges, flourish and mistable leaves from my favorite LSS "The Scrap Trap"

Here are some close ups. I used Prima flowers, Kaisercraft hinge and flourish. I misted the mistables with Glimmer Mist and used Glimmer Glam on the hinges which I then stamped over top.

This is CT work for Flying Unicorn using Prima Pixie Glen Collection.

I fussy cut the clock from another Prima sheet and stitched around the photo. I used some Prima flocked rubons and fussy cut the little fairies out which I covered with Glossy Accents. Added some Websters trim around the flower (from an old Swirlydoo kit I had) The rubon words and chipboard letters are from a Flying Uni kit and I covered them with Diamond Dust after I painted them with Picket Fence Crackle paint.I also used a large doily as a mask.

Few new Layouts

Hey scrapping friends!

Just wanted to share some layouts I have been working on and a couple from the December issue of Enchanting Creations Magazine.

For this one I used Websters Sweet Season collection. This is a layout of our dear little friend Lennon who lost his fight to cancer this past Sept. He touched so many people..he has no idea how much he changed our lives.

This one I used Pion's For Father paper collection available at the Flying Unicorn Store. My darling grandson sitting with his gammy.

The next two I did for the Enchanting Creations magazine-December issue. I used CI Winter Song collection and ScrapCake papers for these. Also from the STORE.

Just reminding you all about the tutorials going on at the FORUM all month long!! Our Christmas Party was a blast with all our fun games, giveaways and socializing!! Hope you can join in the fun!!

Winter Song

Hey scrappers!

Just sharing a new layout today using the most beautiful collection from Creative Imaginations, Winter Song from the Flying Unicorn Store.

This collection is so gorgeous. I love the non-traditional Christmas/Winter colors. It's so versatile!!

I did some fussy cutting from another sheet and added it to the bottom. Made the twine flowers, and used a vine from Dusty Attic. Bird Cage is Prima. I added some Stickles for sparkle.

We are having SO much fun with our Santa's Workshop at Flying Unicorn!! Each day we are introducing new tutorials for you and if you do at least one tutorial you can be eligible for the Santa Sack prizes!!! Click HERE for all the fun details!! Silver Bells Challenge @ Flying Unicorn

Hey Scrappers!

It's always so fun at the start of each new month at Flying Unicorn. Not only does it mean it's time for the kit reveal, but it also means it's the start of lots new fun challenges!!

For this month, I'm hosting a challenge called "Silver Bells". Now my first thought for this challenge of course was Christmas. I was going to do some silver and blue Christmas type theme for my layout, but as I started to put it all together a pink flower was lying next to the silver, and it looked so good together that I decided to change it..I guess that is how scrapping goes sometimes!

I used Creative Imaginations new collection Winter Song available at the STORE. I also used some Prima flowers, some fabulous Dusty Attic, and Iced Spruce Distress ink. The new Winter collection from Tim Holtz which you can find HERE. They come in a pack of 3 and the colors are gorgeous!!

Here is my example I made for the challenge.

The pink butterflies are courtesy of the most fabulous Lisa Gregory and I made the cameo myself. You can find a tutorial for the cameo HERE if you are interested in trying to make your own. They really are fun and addicting!!

"Sugarplum Dreams" from Flying Unicorn

Happy December!!

I'm so happy to be able to reveal the new kit from Flying Unicorn "Sugarplum Dreams"!! I've been waiting for awhile to share this with everyone! I know I have said this before...but this has to be a fave of mine! It's filled with the most beautiful Kaisercraft papers, Felt Fusion, bling, rubons, flowers, etc. The Off the Page Project is the cutest paper mache Rudolph and Ornaments..Was so fun to work with and Alda even includes all the paint and brushes for the OTP. So much is in this kit, that I'm not even done working with it yet! Here are some projects I did with mine.

Just note some items are from my stash. Just a few, but just want you to know, so click HERE to see everything that comes in the kit.

This is a picture of my dear friends new son. It'll be his first Christmas, and I know they consider him the best gift ever.

Santa's Workshop is Coming Dec 1st!!

The Creative Team, aka Alda and her elves, at the Flying Unicorn has been hard at work behind the scenes, getting ready for the month of December!!

We’re bringing you a technique loaded, fun-filled, December!! Everyday, through December 24^th, there will be a new technique tutorial posted for you to try. Some will be simple, others a little more complex, but there will be something for everyone! Look for the Santa’s Workshop thread in the forum to find the daily tutorials.

Be sure to post a picture of your creations using any of the tutorials to be eligble for a prize drawing on December 31^st. There will be 9 different prizes awarded, one from each of Santa’s reindeer!

Silent Auction Starts Tomorrow!!!

Hey Scrappers!!!

Tomorrow, November 26th is the start of our Silent Auction at Flying Unicorn!! Each CT member has de-stashed their goodies and it's all going up on the auction block!! All proceeds will go to Women In Distress, an organization that we've been giving back to all month. Not only is this season the time for being thankful, but it's also a time to help others and give back to those who need our help.

Each auction bid starts at $5!! How cool is that? You could get TONS of scrapbooking items and help a great cause all in one shot!

There are some great items up for auction..the rules are simple..just pm each CT member with your bid and we'll keep track..letting each know if you've been outbid..so you can bid again if you want..etc..the rules are posted in each auction thread. You can see the wonderful items by clicking HERE

Provencial Collection @ Flying Unicorn

Hey everyone!!

Just sharing with you some CT work for Flying Unicorn!

This layout is of my beautiful daughter when she got her pink cowgirl hat from her grandma. It was a birthday gift and pretty much the only thing she wanted that year.

I used new Creative Imaginations Provencial Collection from the STORE. The Dusty Attic Fence, Glimmer Mist and Prima Resin are from the STORE as well. The larger aqua flower is from a past Swirlydoos kit. I used Crafters Workshop Chicken Wire mask for the background. Used my new sewing machine for stitching around the edges.

The quote on the picture reads:
"When a girl ceases to blush,
She has lost the most powerful charm of her beauty"

Just sharing a quick layout I did using new Creative Imaginations Devotion Collection from the Flying Unicorn Store!

This collection is one of the prettiest I've seen! Totally romantic and the colors are stunning! I'm not really sure if I'm totally done with this layout yet..but..let me know what you think it's missing..

I used my new sewing machine to stitch around the edges, and used some Glacier Glimmer Mist on the Chicken Wire mask to give the background just a slight design. Didn't want alot as the paper is just gorgeous on it's own. The Prima Resin Bird is also from the STORE and I made the vine using Gabrielle Pollacco's tutorial as my guide. Some Dusty Attic chipboard which I painted with some Glimmer Glam from the STORE and Prima flowers.

As I said, I'm still not sure...so please take a moment and tell me what you think is missing..be honest..i can take it! lol

Hey scrappers!

Today I'd sharing some CT work I did for Flying Unicorn. I did using the over the top gorgeous papers from Glitz:Vintage Blue collection. It will be available soon at the Flying Unicorn Store. The new collections from Glitz are top quality and so beautiful.

The bird cage is from Scrap FX, Melissa Frances resin frame and Flying Unicorn blue roses all from the STORE. Some of the Prima flowers shown are also available.

Hey Scrappers!!

Today I am sharing some CT work for Flying Unicorn!

I used Glitz Beautiful Dreamer papers that will be available soon at the store! I love this collection..soo pretty!! This is a picture of my dd on Decade Day at school. She dressed in the 20's era and tried to 'pose'..lol

I stamped the background paper with a script stamp from Prima. I also made my own vine using Gabrielle Pollacco's video tutorial as my guide.

The beautiful cameo in the window is from my scrappy friend Cathi. I spritzed some beige flowers with Cadillac Pink Mist to make them match.

I just want to remind everyone about the wonderful fundraiser that Flying Unicorn is having.

Riddersholm "Chantilly Dawn"

Hey everyone!
Just sharing a new layout I did using the brand new collection from Riddersholm, "Chantilly Dawn" found at the Flying Unicorn Store. Flying Unicorn is proud to carry hard to find papers like Riddersholm, Pion, and ScrapCake. They're the only US retailer for some of these fabulous lines!!

I also made this for inspiration for our wonderful CT member, Maggi who is hosting a "Heavy Metal" Challenge at the Flying Unicorn Forum. I used some of my copper I have and embossed it with my Cuttlebug to make my design. I also used Tim Holtz metal corners. Lots of Prima flowers and a Dusty Attic frame topped it off. I made a few of the blooms using Gabrielle Pollacco's tut but hers are way prettier!! How does she make it look so easy???

Kaisercraft Bonjour Layout

Hi Scrappers!

Today I want to share with you some CT work for Flying Unicorn. The new collection "Bonjour" from Kaisercraft is just gorgeous. I love the color tones of this paper and the quality is outstanding!

This layout is of my daughter and grandson, who always make me smile.

For this page, I painted around the edges using White Crackle paint. Misted with some Cadillac Pink Glimmer Mist and used a doily for the masking. Stamped my flower vine with some Peeled Paint Distress ink and made the bloom that is on top of the Dusty Attic piece.

Dont you just love the new Prima resin pieces? The bird bath here has to be one of my faves! Prima always makes me happy!

The good thing is that the Flying Unicorn Store is restocking their shelves with both these new beauties soon! Right now Alda just got in the new ScrapCake and Pion Christmas lines!! New Riddersholm Chantilly Dawn are here as well!

A Few New Projects~ScrapCake, Pion and Kaisercraft

Hey Scrappers!

Today I want to share a few CT projects for Flying Unicorn. Using ScrapCake, Pion and Kaisercraft collections, I actually made 3 layouts over the weekend. So easy to do when you have such nice quality papers to work with!

The first one I did is of my grandson. I used Pion papers which you can find HERE at the Flying Unicorn Store. I edited the picture before printing it out. Did you know that Flying Unicorn is the only US retailer that carries this wonderful line?

I distress stained some Dusty Attic corners to add to it. The small Prima tile and small brown roses were from a Swirlydoos kit I had. I also used some Pink Paislee mistables paper, inked it, and tried to make it look like a stamp by using my hole punch around the outer edge.

The next one I did I used ScrapCake Bright side of Life collection, which you can find HERE. I did some fussy cutting and really was inspired by Gerry van Gent's work...though I will never be as talented as she is!

The last one I did is of a good friends two little boys. I LOVE this photo..says so much I think. I used Kaisercraft's Chapter One papers.

I made my own mask by using Tim Holtz mask sheets and my Cricut. I painted the gates with Peeled Paint Distress Stain, and the DA piece with white Smooch which I then stamped with a script stamp and black ink.

New Prima and Pion Christmas

Hey scrappers!

Have good news today! The new Prima collections are now available at the Flying Unicorn Store! The papers are gorgeous! I did this layout using papers from the Pixie Glen collection.

I couldn't get the photo exactly straight in my editing program, so I apologize for that..lol but you can see how cute these papers are.

I made the cameo and if you are looking for the tutorial, you can find it HERE in the video section of the forum.

Also available at the store is the new Christmas line from Pion!! Thank goodness they came out with a Christmas line now because I have tons of cards to make. Since the holidays will be here before we know it, I made this album using papers from their collection.

Magic of OZ Mini Album

Hey everyone!

Next month I am taking our Girl Scout troop to a place called Storybook Land. Storybook Land is of course filled with all kinds of fun stuff that is based on children's stories and nursery rhymes. The place is filled with the likes of Humpty Dumpty, Jack and Jill, Paul Bunyan, and even a Medieval castle! Of course my favorite thing to see is the Land of Oz!! So for that trip, I made a Graphic 45 Magic of Oz mini for all our pictures. It is going to be so fun filling this album from our trip!

I added a little story book on this page so we can add extra pics:

This page has a place for me to write all out our trip and the black rose on the corner my daughter made.

I got the Magic of Oz paper and some of the other goodies from the Flying Unicorn Store. Some of the flowers were from a previous Swirly kit. But most of the items you can find at the store along with some other new collections, embellies and FANTASTIC flowers!!!

Fabulous Fabscraps!!

Hey scrappers!

The first time I heard about FABSCRAPS was from my good friend Brandi who happens to own my favorite local scrap store and I totally fell in love with their collections. I was like a kid at Christmas when I saw that Alda carried it in the Flying Unicorn Store!! OMGosh..she's such an enabler..lol..which is why we love her!

So I decided to chose a few sheets, mixed between the High Tea and Heritage collections to do this layout. I've been wanting to do a lo with some of my favorite John Waterhouse paintings. I'm working on Waterhouse ATC cards next! So with a little mojo and beautiful paper to work with..here is what I came up with.

The stick pin my daughter made and I misted the Melissa Frances resin piece with Sugar Plum Fairy Mist

I covered the Dusty Attic piece with Glimmer Glam and then stamped it with a script stamp

Used my Cricut to cut branches and hung little charms from them:

And of course flower clusters are a must:

New layouts for Challenges at Flying Unicorn!

Hey Scrappers!

I have a lot to share today! I've been working on some projects for some challenges over at Flying Unicorn. I also have been working on making my own Cameos and other resin pieces for scrapping. Oh and I can't forget the stick pins my daughters and I have been working on...all influenced by the newest scrapping hot spot, Flying Unicorn!

For the first one here, I did this just for inspiration for the Die Cut Challenge in the forum. The flower on the bottom and the "Cheri" on the lamp post was made with my Cricut. Most of the stuff is from a past Swirlydoos kit I had and of course I mixed in some products from the Flying Unicorn Store. The stick pin is one my step daughter made.

This next one I did is for a challenge I am co-hosting with Alda. It's a distressing challenge and can be found HERE in the forum. It is a picture of my daughter with her very first surfboard!

So, I found these FAB molds on Etsy from Mold Muse and am really starting to get into making my own cameos and other pieces for projects. It took me a little research to learn what to do..but these are my first ones:

I did learn how to make the two tone a bit better..so trying that later today. I also got hooked on making stick pins from a swap that is going on at Flying Unicorn too! Do you see what enablers they all are..LOL! My daughters helped me create some of these. Super fun!

Websters Ladies and Gents Collection

Hi scrappers!!

Today I am sharing a layout I did using some Websters, "Ladies and Gents" Collection. This picture of my dd was taken by her sister in law in California. I just think it shows how she is becoming such a little young lady. She is just so beautiful to me.

I used some Dusty Attic chipboard and the dress form is from Kaisercraft which I dressed up with different trims. Most everything on here is from Websters. The flowers are Flying Unicorn, and Prima. The red roses are the ones I made using my molds. (A new hobby) They're my first ones ever and I happy how they turned out. The stick pin is from Angelica @ Swirlydoos...off of her Etsy store. The hinge I painted and then stamped with a script stamp I have. I saw Gabrielle Pollacco do this on one of her layouts and LOVE the way it looks.

There is also a challenge going on over at Flying Unicorn. One of our CT members is hosting a Mini Matchbox Challenge. I have never done one before, but this is how mine turned out...not sure about what I think of it.

101 Goals in 1001 Days

If you're popping over to my blog, you may want to know that this has nothing to do with scrapbooking or crafting..nothing at all. lol

A wonderful friend who works as a teacher at the center I work at decided to do this and she asked a group of us if we'd like to be a part of it. I think it is a super cool idea and a great way to do things you've wanted to but always seem to put off due to one thing or another. Each one of our lists are different and it's fun and interesting to look thru others list. I got a few ideas from some of my friends list..because do you know how hard it is to come up with 101 goals? It's really not that easy.

So this is just my own personal post to help myself stay on task. I'll be coming back and marking off goals as I go. If you're wondering how long 1001 days is..I think she told me it's about 3 years. I've already marked off a few!! Would love to do the Wine Tasting tour that some of the others are doing in a couple weeks..but I won't be around for it. :( so I'll have them drink a glass for me anyway ;)

A BIG thanks to her..she know who she is...for thinking of something so fun to do for our group of friends.

August Kit Reveal at Flying Unicorn!!

Hey scrapping friends!!

Today I get to share with you the reveal of the new August Kit "Whispering Memories" from Flying Unicorn!

This kit is packed with all kinds of beautiful paper from 7 Gypsies and Riddersholm Designs, flowers, Dusty Attic chipboard, Tim Holtz Tissue Tape,..and much more!! Click HERE to see everything you get with this beautiful kit. In every kit, Alda includes an "Off the Page Project". This months is a Tim Holtz Configuration Box!!! I LOVED putting my box together..it was one of the first things I did when I opened my kit!

Here are some projects I did with my kit:

I used some of the lace that comes with the kit to make my own flower, (a tutorial from Gabrielle Pollacco's blog) which I inked with some Glimmer Mist to get the brown color. I also used the 12x12 sheet of kraft paper that comes with the kit to make the hinges using my Tim Holtz Die and Big Shot.

I inked the chippie and stamped over it with white, then covered with the Crackle Accents that come with the kit.

I have to say (again) how much I LOVED the Off the Page Project. I had some new G45 paper, The Magic of Oz, which I got from the Flying Unicorn Store and wanted to make a Halloween themed box. I used my box a little differently as you'll see. This box was made with my Cricut and stuff in my stash, other then the Tissue Tape and Dusty Attic Chipboard which comes with the kit.

Scrap Cake Mini Album and Sneak Peeks for August kit!

Hi Scrappers!

Well it's almost time for our Mini Album Swap to come to a close over at Flying Unicorn!

I have LOVED hosting this swap and making all these minis!! You should see the ones I've received so far...just gorgeous! What is so great about a swap is that you can see for yourself all the work someone puts into their project..it's a reflection of them..their personality and each was is so unique and beautiful.

So this one was my last one: the "Unique Shaped Mini". I used the new collection from The ScrapCake.."The Bright Side of Life" which is available at the Flying Unicorn Store. I don't think alot of American stores have it, but Alda has it in stock and it's going fast...so get yours before it's gone!!

The Scrap Cake "The Bright Side of Life Collection"

When Alda first uploaded the new Scrap Cake collection in the store, my jaw dropped and I started drooling all over my keyboard. I had to have some of that paper!! The last collection I worked with from The Scrap Cake was "Spring Awakening" and I loved the quality of the paper....and this collection is just as nice!

I used a picture of my darling grandson on his first merry go round. I'm lucky that he's still so little that I can use flowers for his layout..lol I have a feeling that when he's older he's not going to like that.

Most of the flowers are from Prima and Flying Unicorn. I love Alda's flowers..Click HERE to see some..they're amazing! The chipboard is Imaginarium and also from the Flying Unicorn Store. I also mixed a little Websters trim in there too.

I used Lisa Gregory's circle punch tutorial to add the design around the center circle. Very simple to do..check it out if you get a chance. I also used some of her butterflies she makes for Swirlydoos which I think you can find on her blog. Here are some close ups:

GCD Studios: Creative Team Work

Hey scrapping friends!

Feels like forever since I've been able to scrap and post something! Work has been crazy busy so I took Sunday to try catch up on some scrapping projects.

I did this layout using the GCD Studios collection by Donna Salazar found at the Flying Unicorn store. This layout is my lift of the most talented Joc (Jeni's) layout "She" which you can see HERE in her gallery at Scrapbook.com Hers is totally amazing and creative and I really wanted to try all those creative ideas and details she did on it. Please check it out and give her some gallery love!

The thing about trying to lift someone's layout or even get inspiration from it, is that you never have the same stuff to work with so you have to use what you have.

I used different stamps, ink colors, flowers and chippies for this. Most of the products are from Flying Unicorn with the exception of one of the small plum Prima Flowers and letters which were from a Swirlydoos kit and the Tim Holtz Grungeboard wings which I had in my stash. I used some Glimmer Glam on the small Flying Unicorn roses to match my paper better.

Mini Album Swap

Hey scrappers!

I'm just sharing one of the mini's I doing for the Mini Album Swap @ Flying Unicorn. This is my 6x6 style and I used Websters paper to make it, along with some Flying Unicorn flowers, Prima, Timmy inks..and other goodies.

We have three mini swap groups..Paper Bag, 6x6 and Unique Shaped. I've done 2 styles..now I just need to do one more!

Hello scrappers!

I had mentioned before that once I saw Alda had the new GCD Studios papers from Donna Salazar in the store, I just had to get my hands on some!! I LOVE this line..it's gorgeous..and the quality is so nice! Here is my first layout I've done with it.

The paper is just so beautiful you really don't need to do much with it. I think "Paper Theatre" is my favorite so far!
